Declaration of Meudon

1736 · 18th century

The Declaration of Meudon was a secret agreement of 30 September 1736 by which Stanisław Leszczyński, the deposed king of Poland who was to receive the duchies of Lorraine and Bar for life, handed their administration and revenues to an intendant named by his son-in-law Louis XV of France, in return for a pension. It prepared the incorporation of Lorraine into France, completed on Stanisław's death in 1766.
