Dhanapala (poet)

fl. late 10th – early 11th century · 11th century

Dhanapala was a Jain poet and scholar at the Paramara court of Malwa under Vakpati Munja and Bhoja. He wrote the Sanskrit prose romance Tilakamanjari and the Paiyalacchi, a Prakrit lexicon completed in 972, which records that the Paramara army had just sacked Manyakheta, the Rashtrakuta capital. His works are a valuable source for the history of the period.
