Dhana Nanda

d. c. 321 BCE · 4th century BCE

Dhana Nanda was the last king of the Nanda dynasty of Magadha in northern India. Greek accounts of Alexander's campaign speak of the great army of the eastern king, which helped turn Alexander's troops back at the Beas in 326 BCE. Indian traditions remember him as greedy, and Chandragupta Maurya overthrew him around 322 BCE.
