Manyakheta
Manyakheta, modern Malkhed in the Kalaburagi district of Karnataka, was the capital of the Rashtrakuta empire from the reign of Amoghavarsha I in the early ninth century until 972. It was then sacked by the Paramara king Siyaka II of Malwa, and the Western Chalukyas who replaced the Rashtrakutas later moved their capital to Kalyani. Malkhed remains a village with Jain associations.
