Dommoc

c. 630 · 7th century

Dommoc was the seat of the first bishopric of East Anglia, given around 630 by King Sigeberht to the Burgundian missionary Felix. It is traditionally identified with Dunwich on the Suffolk coast, though some historians favour the Roman fort at Walton near Felixstowe. Bishops of Dommoc are recorded until the Danish conquest of East Anglia in the 9th century.
