Dumat al-Jandal
Dumat al-Jandal is an ancient oasis town in the Jawf region of northern Saudi Arabia, at the head of the Wadi Sirhan. Known to the Assyrians as Adummatu, it was the centre of the Qedarite Arabs and the shrine of their gods, whose images Sennacherib carried off in the 7th century BCE. It was later a Nabataean and Roman outpost and fell to Muslim forces in the 7th century; the Mosque of Umar and Marid castle survive.
