Dungan people

Also known as Dungans

The Dungans are Chinese-speaking Muslims; the name is used in Central Asia for the Hui people of north-western China. After the failure of the great Muslim revolt against Qing rule of 1862–1877, many fled into the Russian Empire, where their descendants live in Kyrgyzstan and Kazakhstan and speak a Chinese dialect written in Cyrillic.
