Durham Castle
Durham Castle is a Norman castle in Durham, north-east England, begun in 1072 on the orders of William the Conqueror. For centuries it was the residence of the prince-bishops of Durham, who governed the county palatine from it. Since 1837 it has housed University College of Durham University, and with the cathedral it forms a World Heritage Site.
