Edo Wiemken the Elder

d. 1415 · 15th century

Edo Wiemken the Elder was a Frisian chieftain active from about 1359 who built Jever, together with Rüstringen and Östringen, into a lordship. He allied at times with pirates such as the Victual Brothers. His descendants ruled Jever until the death of Mary of Jever in 1575 and resisted the ambitions of the Cirksena counts of East Frisia.
