Wangerland

Wangerland is a coastal district in Friesland in north-western Germany, north of Jever. In the Middle Ages it was one of the free Frisian lands, governed by its own peasant communities before chieftains took power in the 14th century, and it later formed part of the Lordship of Jever. Today it is a municipality known for its North Sea resorts.
