Zerbst
Zerbst is a town in Saxony-Anhalt, Germany, north of the Elbe. From 1603 to 1793 it was the residence of the princes of Anhalt-Zerbst, who built a large baroque palace there. Its best-known daughter of the house was Sophie Auguste Friederike, who became Catherine the Great of Russia. The palace and much of the old town were destroyed in an air raid in April 1945.
