Bernburg

Bernburg is a town on the Saale in Saxony-Anhalt, Germany. Its Renaissance castle on a rock above the river was the residence of the princes, later dukes, of Anhalt-Bernburg from 1603 until the line died out in 1863. The town then became part of the united Duchy of Anhalt and later grew as a centre of salt and chemical industry.
