Wangen im Allgäu

Wangen im Allgäu is a town in the Allgäu region of Baden-Württemberg which grew from a settlement under the Abbey of Saint Gall and became a free imperial city in the 13th century. It remained Catholic during the Reformation, passed to Bavaria in 1802 and to Württemberg in 1810, and keeps a well-preserved old town with painted gate towers.
