Elisabethenburg Palace

1682–1692 · 17th century · Also known as Schloss Elisabethenburg

Elisabethenburg Palace is the former residence of the dukes of Saxe-Meiningen in Meiningen, Thuringia. Duke Bernhard I built it between 1682 and 1692 and named it after his second wife, Elisabeth Eleonore. Its Baroque wings remained the seat of the ducal court until 1918 and now house the Meiningen museums, with collections on the court theatre and music.
