Emperor Xuanzong of Jin

1163–1224 · 13th century · Also known as Wanyan Xun

Emperor Xuanzong of Jin (1163–1224), personal name Wanyan Xun, was emperor of the Jurchen Jin dynasty from 1213 to 1224. Placed on the throne after a coup killed his predecessor during the Mongol invasion, he bought a truce from Genghis Khan in 1214 with tribute and a princess, then moved the court south from Zhongdu to Kaifeng, which led the Mongols to resume the war. He also fought costly wars with Song China and Western Xia.
