Entremont (oppidum)
Entremont is the site of a fortified hilltop town, or oppidum, on a plateau just north of Aix-en-Provence in southern France. It was the chief stronghold of the Salyes in the 2nd century BCE until Roman armies destroyed it around 123 BCE. Excavations found stone sculptures of seated warriors and carved severed heads, and a portico where real human skulls were displayed.
