Equal Franchise Act 1928
The Representation of the People (Equal Franchise) Act 1928 gave women in the United Kingdom the vote on the same terms as men, from the age of twenty-one. It extended the franchise granted in 1918 to women over thirty who met a property qualification, adding some five million women to the electorate. It received royal assent on 2 July 1928, weeks after the death of the suffragette leader Emmeline Pankhurst.
