Etosha Pan

Also known as Etosha

Etosha Pan is a large salt pan in northern Namibia, about 120 km long, which fills with water only briefly after heavy rains. Ovambo peoples collected salt there and traded it widely. It lies at the heart of Etosha National Park, proclaimed as a game reserve in 1907, which is one of Africa's best-known wildlife reserves.
