Everglades

The Everglades are a vast subtropical wetland in southern Florida, formed by a slow-moving sheet of water flowing from Lake Okeechobee to Florida Bay. In the 19th century they became a refuge for Seminole bands who escaped removal to the west. Much of the area has been protected as Everglades National Park since 1947.
