Factory Acts

The Factory Acts were a series of laws passed by the UK Parliament from 1802 onwards to regulate working conditions in industry. The Act of 1833 banned the employment of children under nine in textile mills and created the first factory inspectors, and later acts, such as the Ten Hours Act of 1847, limited the working hours of women and young people.
