Fangataufa

Fangataufa is an uninhabited atoll in the Tuamotu archipelago of French Polynesia, south of Moruroa. With Moruroa, it was the site of France's Pacific nuclear tests from 1966 to 1996; it hosted the first French thermonuclear test, Canopus, in August 1968, and later underground tests. The atoll remains a restricted military zone.
