Fancheng
Fancheng was a city on the Han River in central China, paired with Xiangyang on the opposite bank. Together the twin cities guarded the route to the Yangtze valley, and their resistance during the Mongol siege of 1267–1273 was pivotal; their fall opened the way to the conquest of the Southern Song Dynasty.
