Counterweight trebuchet

Also known as counterweight trebuchets

A counterweight trebuchet is a siege engine that uses a heavy falling weight to swing a throwing arm, capable of hurling large stones over long distances. During the siege of Xiangyang, Persian engineers introduced counterweight trebuchets that outranged Chinese catapults. The weapon helped the Yuan Dynasty break Song Dynasty defences.
