Fernando de la Rúa
Fernando de la Rúa was an Argentine Radical Civic Union politician, the first elected head of government of the city of Buenos Aires, and president from 1999 to 2001. Unable to escape recession and debt while keeping the peso pegged to the dollar, his government restricted bank withdrawals, and he resigned in December 2001 amid riots in which dozens of people were killed.
