Foedus Cassianum

c. 493 BCE · 5th century BCE

The Foedus Cassianum was a treaty between Rome and the cities of the Latin League, traditionally dated to 493 BCE and named after the consul Spurius Cassius. Concluded after the Battle of Lake Regillus, it established peace and a defensive alliance in which both sides shared command and booty. It governed Roman–Latin relations until the Latin War of 340–338 BCE.
