Francesco Manfredi

d. 1343 · 14th century

Francesco Manfredi was a Guelph noble who became lord of Faenza in Romagna in 1313, founding the Manfredi lordship over the city. He also extended his family's influence to Imola. Expelled in the 1320s amid family quarrels and papal pressure, he lost the city, but his descendants recovered it and ruled Faenza as papal vicars for most of the next two centuries.
