Imola
Imola is a town in Emilia-Romagna, northern Italy, on the Via Emilia between Bologna and Faenza. Ruled in the late Middle Ages by local lords and at times by the Manfredi of Faenza, it was given by Pope Sixtus IV to his nephew Girolamo Riario in 1473. After Cesare Borgia took it from Caterina Sforza in 1499, it returned to direct papal rule.
