Franco-Savoyard War (1600–1601)
The Franco-Savoyard War of 1600–1601 was fought between Henry IV of France and Charles Emmanuel I, Duke of Savoy, over the Marquisate of Saluzzo, which Savoy had seized in 1588. French armies quickly overran Bresse and Savoy. By the Treaty of Lyon of 1601 the duke kept Saluzzo but ceded Bresse, Bugey, Valromey and Gex to France.
