Ganges–Yamuna Doab
The Ganges–Yamuna Doab is the fertile alluvial land between the Ganges and Yamuna rivers in western Uttar Pradesh, India, stretching from the Shivalik foothills to their confluence at Prayagraj. One of the most productive farming regions of South Asia, it was the heartland of the late Vedic Kuru and Panchala realms and later a core of the Delhi Sultanate and the Mughal Empire. Its name comes from the Persian for two waters.
