Mihira Bhoja

r. 836–885 · 9th century · Also known as Bhoja I

Mihira Bhoja (Bhoja I) was the most powerful king of the Gurjara-Pratihara dynasty, ruling from Kannauj from about 836 to 885. He rebuilt Pratihara power after earlier defeats and ruled an empire from Punjab to the borders of Bengal, contending with the Pala and Rashtrakuta dynasties in the tripartite struggle. Arab travellers praised his cavalry and the security of his realm.
