Gaur
Gaur, also known as Lakhnauti, is a ruined city in the Malda district of West Bengal, India, on the border with Bangladesh. It was a capital of the Sena kings and, from the early 13th century, of Bengal's Muslim rulers, and under the Bengal Sultanate it became one of the largest cities of South Asia. Sher Shah Suri took it in 1538, and mosques such as the Bara Sona Masjid survive.
