Chittagong
Chittagong, officially Chattogram, is the main port and second-largest city of Bangladesh, on the Karnaphuli river near the Bay of Bengal. A trading port since ancient times, it was contested by Bengal, Tripura and Arakan, held by the Arakanese kingdom of Mrauk U in the 16th and 17th centuries, and taken by the Mughals in 1666. It passed to the East India Company in 1760.
