General Council of Andorra

1419 · 15th century · Also known as Consell General

The General Council, or Consell General, is the parliament of Andorra. It developed from the Consell de la Terra, an assembly of parish representatives created in 1419, and from 1702 met at the Casa de la Vall in Andorra la Vella. The constitution of 1993 made it a full legislature: its 28 members, half elected by the parishes and half nationally, choose the head of government.
