George II of Abkhazia

George II was king of Abkhazia in the first half of the 10th century, when the kingdom, centred on Kutaisi, was the leading power of western Georgia. He extended its rule into Kartli in the east and was a patron of Georgian-language church life. Later kings such as Constantine III continued this expansion before the throne passed to the Bagratid Bagrat III in 978.
