Gongmin of Goryeo

1330–1374 · 14th century · Also known as King Gongmin

Gongmin was king of Goryeo from 1351 to 1374. Raised at the Yuan court and married to the Mongol princess Noguk, he turned against Yuan control as the dynasty weakened, purging the pro-Mongol Gi family in 1356 and recovering northern lands. His later reforms through the monk Sin Don failed, and he was murdered in 1374.
