Greenville, Liberia
Greenville is a port town on the coast of south-eastern Liberia and the capital of Sinoe County, at the mouth of the Sinoe river. It was founded in the late 1830s as the first town of Mississippi-in-Africa, a settlement of formerly enslaved African Americans organised by the Mississippi Colonization Society, which joined Liberia in 1842. It has long been an outlet for timber and other produce of the interior.
