Guadix
Guadix is a town in the province of Granada, Spain, on the high plateau north of the Sierra Nevada. Founded as the Roman colony of Acci, it became an early bishopric and, under Muslim rule, the town of Wadi Ash, briefly the seat of an independent taifa after 1145. It belonged to the Emirate of Granada until it surrendered to the Catholic Monarchs in 1489, and is known for its cave dwellings.
