Abencerrajes
The Abencerrajes (Banu Sarraj) were a noble family of the Nasrid Emirate of Granada who were influential at court in the fifteenth century. They acted as kingmakers in the civil wars among Nasrid claimants, notably supporting Muhammad IX, and their rivalries with other clans weakened the emirate. Legend holds that many of them were killed in a hall of the Alhambra that bears their name.
