Abenaki
The Abenaki are an Algonquian-speaking Indigenous people of northern New England and southern Quebec, members of the Wabanaki Confederacy. Allied with New France against the English colonists in a series of wars from the 1670s to the 1760s, many moved north to mission villages such as Odanak and Wôlinak on the St Lawrence, where their communities remain.
