Passamaquoddy
The Passamaquoddy are an Algonquian-speaking Indigenous people of the Passamaquoddy Bay and St Croix river region on the border of Maine and New Brunswick. Members of the Wabanaki Confederacy, they lived by fishing and hunting along the coast. Most now live at Sipayik (Pleasant Point) and Indian Township in Maine, and in 1980 they and the Penobscot won a major land claims settlement.
