King Philip's War
King Philip's War was fought in 1675–1676 between English colonists in New England and Native peoples led by the Wampanoag sachem Metacom, known to the English as King Philip. It was one of the deadliest wars of colonial American history and devastated Plymouth Colony and other settlements. Native communities suffered far heavier losses, and many survivors were killed, enslaved or driven north.
