Abeokuta
Abeokuta is a city in south-western Nigeria founded in the 1830s by Egba Yoruba refugees. Its foundation was one consequence of the wars and population movements that followed the collapse of the Oyo Empire. It developed into an important Yoruba town and is noted in the Oyo Empire's profile as part of the region's post-imperial landscape.
