Gyeongbokgung
Gyeongbokgung is the main royal palace of the Joseon dynasty in Seoul, built in 1395 after the capital moved to Hanyang. It was burned during the Japanese invasion of 1592 and left in ruins for more than two centuries until the regent Heungseon Daewongun rebuilt it in 1867. Queen Min was murdered there in 1895. Much of the palace was demolished under Japanese rule, and it has been extensively restored since the 1990s.
