Gympie

Gympie is a town in south-east Queensland, Australia, on the Mary River. James Nash found gold there in 1867, and the rush that followed is credited with rescuing the young colony of Queensland from bankruptcy. Gold mining continued into the 1920s, and the town later became a centre for dairy farming and timber.
