Brisbane
Brisbane is the capital of Queensland, Australia, on the Brisbane River near Moreton Bay. It began in 1825 as a penal settlement for convicts who had reoffended in New South Wales, moved from Redcliffe, and was opened to free settlers in 1842. It became the capital of the new colony of Queensland in 1859 and is now Australia's third-largest city.
