18th century · 18th century · Also known as Hajji Davud of Mushkur

Hajji Davud was a Lezgin leader from Mushkur in northern Shirvan who led a Sunni revolt against Safavid rule in the early 1720s. With Surkhay Khan of Kazikumukh he sacked Shamakhi in 1721, killing Russian merchants, which Peter the Great used as a pretext for his Persian campaign of 1722. He then ruled Shirvan as an Ottoman vassal until the Ottomans removed him in 1728.
