Hamar

Hamar is a town in eastern Norway on the shore of Lake Mjøsa, the administrative centre of Innlandet county. It became the seat of a bishop in 1152 and grew around its cathedral, whose ruins are now protected under a glass shelter. The medieval town declined after the Reformation, and a new town was founded on the site in 1849.
