Eidsivating

Also known as Eidsivathing

The Eidsivating was the law assembly (thing) of the inland Upplands of eastern Norway in the Middle Ages, meeting at Eidsvoll. Its law, the Eidsivating law, governed Romerike, Hedmark and other inland districts until King Magnus the Lawmender's national law code of 1274 replaced the regional laws. It was one of the four great law-thing districts of medieval Norway.
