Henry Salt
Henry Salt was an English artist, diplomat and collector. He travelled twice in Ethiopia, in 1805 and 1809–1810, visiting Ras Wolde Selassie in Tigray on a mission for the British government, and published accounts of his journeys. As British consul-general in Egypt from 1816 he sponsored excavations, including those of Giovanni Belzoni, and assembled antiquities later sold to the British Museum.
