Iyoas I
Iyoas I was emperor of Ethiopia from 1755 to 1769. Coming to the throne as a boy, he relied on his mother's Oromo relatives, which angered the established nobility. In 1769 Ras Mikael Sehul of Tigray had him deposed and murdered, an act usually taken as the start of the Era of Princes, when emperors were puppets of regional lords.
